Do I need my iPhone nearby?

Not while you meditate. You can start and finish on the watch alone; it keeps the recording and sends it to your iPhone the next time they connect. The iPhone is needed to set Anlan up, to allow Health access and to see results and history.

Permissions

Meditation length

5 minutes to 3 hours, chosen with the Digital Crown; past an hour, the dial goes round again. Very short meditations don't get a result. Longer meditations give Anlan more to go on.

If you don't allow Anlan to save Workouts in Health, the watch can't measure heart rate through the meditation. It still records the length and wakes you, for up to 53 minutes.

Any position

Any position works, as long as the watch stays snug on your wrist. Keep the wrist with the watch as still as is comfortable; movement shows on the timeline.
