What is Anlan?

Anlan is an Apple Watch meditation insights app. It doesn't teach meditation or play guided audio. After each meditation, it estimates whether your body settled, roughly when, and for about how long — all worked out on your Apple Watch and iPhone, with no account and no servers.

Can Apple Watch tell how deep a meditation is?

No. No watch can measure how deep a meditation is, and Anlan doesn't claim to. From heart rate and wrist movement, Anlan estimates something narrower: whether your body settled, roughly when, and for about how long.

How does Anlan tell whether my body settled?

On your watch and iPhone, Anlan uses machine learning on your heart rate, the small movements of your wrist and the breathing estimated from them, read against your own usual and asleep heart rate. It counts your body as settled only once it has stayed stable for a while. How it works

Can Anlan tell when I lose focus?

No. A settled body and a focused mind are different things; you can be perfectly still while your thoughts wander. Anlan does not judge focus, meditation depth or your state of mind.

How accurate is Anlan?

When our latest model says your body clearly settled, it agrees with the reference 9 times out of 10. It was tested on three public research datasets from PhysioNet: 71 people, about 3,000 minutes of recordings the model had never seen. Validation in real-world Apple Watch use continues. Accuracy and limitations

Does Anlan give a meditation score?

No. There's no 0–100 score. You get a plain answer, such as “Your body settled”, with about when and about how long, a timeline, and how certain the result is.

Does Anlan work without an iPhone?

You need an iPhone to set it up and to see results. It doesn't need to be nearby while you meditate: the watch records on its own and sends the meditation to your iPhone later.

Which Apple Watch models are supported?

Any Apple Watch that runs watchOS 26: Series 6 or later, SE (2nd generation) or later, and every Ultra, paired with an iPhone on iOS 26. There is no iPad version. Compatibility

Can I compare meditations over time?

Yes. History is a calendar shaded by how settled your body was: a week shows every meditation, a month shows each day by its best meditation, and six months shows the overall picture. Anlan doesn't turn this into streaks or claims of progress.

How long can a meditation be?

From 5 minutes to 3 hours, chosen with the Digital Crown on Apple Watch. When you open Anlan, the length is already set from how long you usually meditate at that time of day. If Workouts aren't allowed in Health, the watch records only the length, for up to 53 minutes.

Can I meditate at bedtime without being woken?

Yes. Tap the bell on the watch's start screen and that meditation ends quietly when time is up, with no taps or sound. It turns on by itself during your Quiet Hours, or when Sleep Focus is on if you've added Anlan's "Don't Wake Me" filter to it. If you fall asleep, Anlan marks those minutes as asleep from your watch's sleep record.

Does Anlan upload my health data?

No. The app has no account and no server. It reads from Health with your permission and works everything out on your Apple Watch and iPhone. Privacy policy

How much does Anlan cost?

Without membership, your meditations are still recorded, your history shows which days you meditated and for how long, and your first meditation with a result is shown in full. Membership shows the result of every meditation, including the ones from before you joined: $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $49.99 once. Prices are set by the App Store.
